«Your opinion counts!» is the motto of Hotelstars Union’s online survey, which hotel guests are now invited to participate in.
Since 2009 the Hotelstars Union has been pursuing the harmonisation of the European systems of classification. Today the harmonised standards have been implemented in twelve European countries. And yet more countries are interested in entering the Hotelstars Union. Every five years the classification standards are adjusted to the international tendencies and future guest needs. For the first time, guests now have the chance to reveal their expectations and wishes for the future classification in Europe through an online survey. The Hospitality Management School Lausanne (EHL) and the University of St. Gallen assist the Hotelstars Union academically, while the Berlin-based company Customer Alliance provides the technical elements.
Guest survey as an important step towards further harmonisation
Succeeding Austria, Switzerland has taken over the presidency of the Hotelstars Union at the beginning of 2013, in compliance with the rotation principle. Until the end of 2013, hotelleriesuisse will now control the activities of Europe’s biggest association for awarding hotel stars. According to Thomas Allemann, director of member services and classification of hotelleriesuisse, the extensive guest survey is an important step towards further harmonisation. Furthermore, it is a unique chance for all hotel guests to directly contribute to the revision process with their experiences and demands.
